IT WAS A JUST A HUG...

When I meet with clients we always have the conversation that you can fire me at any time, and I can fire you at ANY time!

Pointing out that I have 2 boyz and I would much rather spend my time with them, coaching them, being a dad than with clients that aren’t compliant and don’t follow our game plan.  If they don’t respect my time then ‘bye Felicia!’

Fortunately, most clients understand the family dynamic and because of this, I’ve only had to ‘fire’ 4 clients over the years.

My clients understand that I work my A$$ off for them and are available most anytime they want to talk, have a question, or need me.  But there are sometimes when I am off limits and family comes first.  Granted, my family – Susan and the Boyz – have to put up with me talking through problems with clients too often but they understand!

Then each day at about 3:30 when the boyz get home and until 5-5:30 when we have to rush out the door to a sport it is SUPER chaotic.  I’m rushing around making dinner, getting them ready for sports, making sure they do what they need to do.

Having built the office onto the house, there is a LOT of running back and forth from ‘being Dad’ to ‘helping clients’ between the house and the office at this time of day.

That is a curse and a blessing.

The other day a client had to stop by in all the craziness to sign some papers, this was about the time when Alex got home from school.  Alex walked in the office and had something exciting to tell me that happened at school today, so he came in – while the client was there – gave me a big hug and shared his story with us.

Then last night I received this text from the client…

“Oh Good!  Go enjoy your family!  BTW it was so wonderful to see Alex jump in your arms after school the day I was there!  Says more about you than anything you can do in the community!”

This made my evening… To me this was just a benefit of having the office at our home.  To my client/friend this showed me as a Dad, which is my ULTIMATE job, and not just some guy she hired to help her sell her home!

Appreciate my clients… they understand that I am a Dad first…
