YESTERDAY WAS THE WORST!

Humans are creatures of habit.  Wake up at a certain time, brush your teeth, get coffee, get the kids out of the house, make lunch… write a Musing…

Or whatever it is, I’m sure you have those first 5, 6 actions that you do to start your day.  Some people meditate, some workout, some walk, some start with a huge glass of water.  Then from there you start your day.

Well, yesterday was one of those doozies of a day.

Susan woke up and immediately noticed that we didn’t have power.  Pitch black.  She gets me up as the alarm didn’t go off and the day starts in a whirlwind.  I head downstairs and immediately go out to the garage.  Well, you can’t open the garage without power.  So I had to dis-engage the garage door and manually open the garage door.

Then move the cars out.  Then get the generator.  Get that fired up so we can atleast shower (our well, hotwater heater, fridge, HVAC) is hooked up the generator so we atleast have the essentials.  Then I look down the driveway and see cop cars lights flashing.  I head down and see what is going on.  Well a tree fell in our woods, took out the power line and was halfway in the road.

By now I head back up to the house.  The boys are wondering what is going on.  So, I tell them and then we make a gameplan to get showered, while I head to McDonalds to get breakfast cause I can’t cook.  I head out to McDonalds while Susan and I are ordering Starbucks from the online app (that’s another story).

I get to McDonalds and get breakfast then pop over to Starbucks to get Susan and my order.  (I need coffee/caffeine to start the day).  Susan’s order is ready.  I don’t see mine.

I look down at the Starbucks app.  I didn’t complete the order.  GRRRRRR.  I don’t have time to wait behind the 5-6 people to order and wait for the coffee.

So, off I go, back to the house.

Anthony showered, Anthony packed his lunch.  They start packing their bags and getting ready.  Susan gets ready to leave the house, and leaves.  I get a call 2 minutes later that her gas is ‘almost empty’.  She wants me to come and switch cars as she has a meeting.  So, I run back out of the house, meet her at the end of our road to switch cars.

Head back to the house and get Alex out and on the bus on time.

I’ve normally had time to shower and mentally decompress by now to start my day.  I’ve had coffee.  I’ve written the Musing.

But not today…

I get Alex on the bus and I NOW HAVE 33 minutes to shower, put the generator back, and get to Frederick for my first of 2 interviews of the day for Frederick Advice Givers

What a start to the day.  Was able to meet 2 awesome Business Owners!  But then I turn my phone back after the 2 interviews. (YES, I actually do turn my phone off 😊)  and then run into a bunch of issues and fires I had to deal with…

When your routine is messed up and thrown for a curveball it messes everything about the day up.

We are creatures of habit.  Atleast our Morning Routine.
